Hemp Slap Eco-construction
Hemp Slap is India's 1st and only National Startup award winning project comprising India's 1st Hemp Construction Crew and 1st wattle and daub construction project of the country.
Our 1st Project - Hemp Slap Hut
In August 2021, we built our inaugural award-winning prototype—The Hemp Slap Hut—to kick-start a community of eco-builders under the “Hemp Slap” banner. This experimental structure demonstrated the power of hempcrete in real-world settings and laid the groundwork for scalable, sustainable construction across Himachal.

Why Hemp in Construction?
-
Carbon-Negative Footprint
Hemp plants absorb CO₂ as they grow, and when locked into lime-based hempcrete, each cubic meter sequesters up to 110 kg of carbon—making your walls a climate solution. -
Exceptional Thermal Insulation
The porous, fibrous structure of hemp hurds delivers R-values comparable to conventional insulation, reducing heating and cooling loads year-round. -
Moisture & Mold Management
Hemp’s natural breathability buffers indoor humidity swings, preventing condensation and mold without mechanical dehumidifiers. -
Acoustic Comfort
Hempcrete’s density and texture dampen sound transmission by 40–50 dB, creating quieter, more peaceful interiors. -
Fire & Pest Resistance
Properly formulated hempcrete resists mold, pests and fire spread—adding safety to sustainability. -
Durability & Low Maintenance
Hemp walls last for decades with minimal cracking or settling, and can be re-rendered or repurposed at end-of-life. -
Local & Renewable
Grown in rotation with food crops, hemp supports regenerative agriculture, empowers local farmers and reduces transportation impacts.
Hemp Slap Products

Himalayan Hemp Slap Hurds
Premium-grade, raw hemp inner core (hurds) specially processed for on-site hempcrete and plaster applications. Raw, Untreated Core: Clean, locally sourced hemp hurds—no added chemicals or coatings—preserving natural breathability and insulating properties. Optimized for Blocks: Fiber length and bulk density calibrated for pumpable, form-stable hempcrete mixes; achieves consistent compaction and bonding when cast into block molds. Fine-Grade for Plaster: Screened to a finer consistency for seamless lime–hemp renders that buffer moisture swings and deliver a breathable, mould-resistant wall finish. Mix Ratio Guidance: Use a 1:3 volume ratio of lime to hemp hurds to create an effective scratch coat (≈225 ft³ total mix for 2,696 ft² of wall surface), with a 10 % waste allowance (≈200 ft³ of hurds)

Himalayan Hemp Slap Blocks
Precision-cut, pre-cast hempcrete units engineered for fast, carbon-negative wall construction. Standard Dimensions: 1 ft (length) × 6 in (height) × 6 in (depth), yielding 0.25 ft³ per block Thermal & Carbon Performance: Delivers an R-value ≈9 per course and sequesters up to 110 kg CO₂ per m³ of hempcrete. Installation Efficiency: Corner-exclusion design maintains full stone thickness at junctions, while uniform block size simplifies layout and reduces cutting waste.

Himalayan Hemp Slap Wool
High-loft, loose-fill hemp fiber insulation for roof and wall cavities—perfect for thermal, acoustic and moisture control. Under-Slate & Ceiling Insulation: Fills gaps (e.g., 5 in under slates) to form a continuous thermal barrier. Thermal Barrier: Locks in warmth and buffers heat loss, eliminating drafts and reducing energy use. Moisture Management: Naturally hygroscopic, it prevents condensation and mold in enclosed cavities. Fire Safety: In combination with under-slate plaster and plywood, achieves 1-hour fire resistance at eaves.

Himalayan Hemp Slap Wood
High-density panels and beams manufactured from compressed hemp fibers and bio-resin—designed to replace conventional plywood and MDF in both structural and finish carpentry. Sustainable Source: Made from upcycled hemp hurds and long-fiber waste, our Hemp Slap Wood panels reduce deforestation and sequester carbon throughout their life cycle. Structural Strength: Available in standard board sizes (4′×8′ sheets at ¾″, 1″ and 1½″ thickness), plus custom-engineered beams up to 6″×6″—with bending strength and screw-hold comparable to pine. Moisture & Pest Resistant: Naturally resistant to rot, mold and insect attack; ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and exterior soffits when sealed with eco-friendly finishes. Acoustic & Thermal Benefits: The hemp core dampens sound transmission by up to 20 dB and adds R-value (≈R-0.5/inch), improving indoor comfort and energy efficiency. Easy Workability: Cuts, sands and routs like wood—compatible with standard woodworking tools and fasteners.
